Apni Chhat Apna Ghar is the Punjab government’s interest-free home loan programme, offering up to Rs 1.5 million to build a house on your own plot (up to 5 marla in cities or 10 marla in villages), repaid at about Rs 14,000 a month. Launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, it had disbursed Rs 278.46 billion in loans and completed 120,753 homes by October 2026, according to figures reported by the Express Tribune.

Who is eligible for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar?
- You must be a resident of Punjab with a valid CNIC.
- You must own a plot of up to 5 marla in an urban area or up to 10 marla in a rural area.
- You should not already own a house.
- You must not be a loan defaulter and must have no criminal record.
- Joint families: since February 2026, joint families can also get loans to extend an existing home and add living space, according to Zameen News.
Applicants are verified after applying, so the details you enter must match your CNIC and land records.
How to apply online: step by step
- Open the official Apni Chhat Apna Ghar portal from the Punjab government website (punjab.gov.pk). Avoid unofficial “apply here” sites and never pay an agent.
- Register with your CNIC and a mobile number registered in your own name.
- Fill in your family, income and plot details.
- Submit the form and keep your application number.
- Wait for verification. Selected applicants are informed by the department, and the loan is released in installments as construction progresses.
No land? Apni Zameen Apna Ghar
Families who do not own a plot are covered by a linked scheme, Apni Zameen Apna Ghar, under which the government allots a plot and then offers the same interest-free loan. In the first phase, 1,534 plots were to be allotted by lottery in Jhelum, Kasur, Faisalabad and Lodhran.

What it means for families in Punjab
A Rs 1.5 million loan at zero interest is a large saving compared with bank home finance, where markup can double the total cost over a long tenure. At about Rs 14,000 a month, the installment is close to the rent many families already pay. The catch is that you must already have a plot, or qualify for one under Apni Zameen Apna Ghar, and Rs 1.5 million may not cover the full cost of a house at today’s construction prices, so plan for your own contribution.
