What analysts are watching

  • Resistance level: Arif Habib Limited noted on Thursday that the rally was testing the 167,000–168,000 zone, the first significant resistance area for buyers.
  • Interest rates: the State Bank’s next monetary policy decision is due on 26 October 2026. The policy rate is currently 11.5%, with inflation at 10.26% in September. Read our report on inflation in Pakistan.
  • Oil prices: higher crude prices weigh on the market and also feed into the petrol price in Pakistan.

What it means for ordinary investors

A swing of nearly 2,000 points in a single day, followed by a quick recovery, shows how sensitive the KSE-100 index remains to political news. Short-term traders face high risk in such conditions, while long-term investors generally focus on company earnings and interest-rate direction rather than daily moves.
