What PTA checked
PTA’s zonal teams assessed network performance, voice and data quality, coverage and the availability of backup power at each site. The checks focused on common complaints: calls that fail to connect, dropped calls, slow mobile internet and coverage gaps. Teams also reviewed consumer complaints and engaged with local administrations, elected representatives and communities to identify problem areas.
Where faults are found at a site or tower, PTA directs the operator concerned to fix them. PTA said improvements in service quality have been observed in several of the inspected areas.
Why backup power matters
Mobile towers depend on generators and batteries when grid power fails. Power outages and fuel shortages at tower sites have been a recurring cause of signal loss in Pakistan, so PTA’s checks of backup arrangements directly affect whether your phone works during load-shedding.
How to report poor mobile service
- First complain to your operator through its helpline or app and note the complaint number.
- If the problem is not fixed, file a complaint with PTA through its online complaint system, giving the exact location and time of the problem.
- Mention whether the issue is with calls, mobile internet or no signal at all.
PTA has also been taking action on SIM fraud; see the new PTA SIM blocking rules. For faster connections, read about 5G in Pakistan.
